Watchlist for November 30th

Wow, this all looks so familiar! Remember dear readers that stocks on watch for short sells can be good buys if they show strength or fail to break down, and stocks on watch for longs can be good shorts if they fail to breakout or show weakness. Don’t fixate on only trading one way.

BRYN – Pump & dump. Its weakness has been revealed. Search and destroy, but with all due caution.

bryn

SEED – A great example of why I don’t short on large gaps down, this was a nice little long for me Friday. I’m short-biased, but not with any conviction.

seed

TAMB – Short on green/red. This move is over-done.

Trade recap for Black Friday

No big trades today, although a few decent little ones. SEED was nice on the long side on the second cross of $10, after it consolidated a bit. I got it long late on red/green. QLTI was a nice breakout and I got stopped out too early. DRAM was a nice long from $3.90, but I got it on the $4 cross.

Watchlist for black Friday

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American confreres! Gobble Gobble! Tomorrow is only a half-day in the stock market. I don’t like to trade much on half days. Here are a couple stocks to watch:

SEED – Was down slightly yesterday, and it deserves to fall more. I like it as a short on the break of $10.

seed

BRYN – Horrid pink sheet pump. Short on weakness. ALFSS.

Review me on Investimonials!

Check out the reviews of this blog on Investimonials, the new website that aims to do for finance what TripAdvisor does for travel and Yelp and Urbanspoon do for cuisine. If you love this blog, feel free to write a review there. While Investimonials is new, it looks promising so far. I will know it is useful once VectorVest has 40 negative reviews.

FYI, I’m with family for Thanksgiving so posts will be sporadic the next few days and there will be no video trade recaps.

Trade recap for 11/24

One stupid boredom trade, one decent trade, and a couple very minor trades. In the video I review my recent performance buying pumps … I am now up to a total profit of $555 and an average profit margin of 4.3%. Thank you Investorslive!

Daily profit: $271.50

Stocks on watch for 24 November

Keeping it simple tonight. Just the big ones … but boy are they nice.

WWPW – This is a pump. I am long as it is getting pumped a bunch more overnight, but it would be foolish to buy it at the open tomorrow. How did I know this was going to get a pump-a-thon tonight? I didn’t … but the clues were there. I’ll discuss that some more in my trade recap tomorrow.

wwpw

SEED – Overdone move on transgenic corn approval in China. Short on red, long on green.

seed

ABIO – Another overdone move IMHO … but I don’t trade based on what I think, I let the price action guide me.

abio

NLST – No shorts today. I was looking to long this on green, but it would have been an easy short on the failure to go green today.Tomorrow it should continue to be volatile … I continue to look to buy on strength and short on weakness.

nlst

Disclosure: Long 1400 shares of WWPW that I intend to sell early tomorrow. I have a disclosure policy and you can find all my disclaimers there as well; those disclosure & disclaimers are incorporated by reference into this post.

Trade recap for 11/23

Nothing too exciting today. SEED and ABIO were interesting, but I was busy editing video for my SEC Filing DVD that is almost finished.

Watchlist for November 23rd

NLST – I’d like to be long any gap up or red/green action early in the morning. Short on red, although the odds of a good short are lessened by recent consolidation.

nlst

DRAM – Nice breakout … Preston called it spot on in a comment Friday. I’m long red/green, this could go more considering hype around NLST. Watch the volume … this won’t be worth playing unless it can get volume; the volume spike is what really signaled the strength of the breakout Friday.

dram

TTIL – Up strongly two days on earnings. I’m not interested in shorting it or buying it here.

ttil

AENY – I hate buying OTC companies, but this could be nice for continuation if it breaks aboe $3.10 with good volume.

aeny

CRXX – Has some gap to fill if it can go green another day. I’ll stay away, though.

crxx

DDS – Nice breakout and volume, but small ADR annoys me.

Trade recap for 11/20: No big bucks, but some nice trades

NLST was a great buy today. I missed the big buy point, but I still made $468 off of three trades with $5k position sizes. BONT from my watchlist failed to do much and my entry sucked so I lost $74.88 there.

Why I don’t like to short stocks at 52 week highs

This video is for everyone who sees a stock at new highs and immediately thinks it should be shorted. That is not a good idea. Stocks that are at 52 week highs tend to keep going up. I like shorting things that go up, but only if they go up a lot very quickly (like 100% in three days) and then I will only short once they start to fade (I particularly like to short once they go red on the day in the afternoon after fading gradually).
